My university...

Requires a GRC to change my name.

Or at least that's what its policy document says.

Fuckwit arsemothering dickwad cockmonkeys - nay, felchmonkeys.

Well, they ain't having one. And they're changing it.

Ascuse me, I has to go be embroiled in a horrible battle with beur - beaur- fuck it, twits with databases and forms, who are twits.

I recall Roz Kaveney saying that this is precisely what GRCs are not for, since the point is to protect your privacy by changing your birth documents.

Not that you don't know that.

(followed you from Belledame's)

I know, the irony is painful...

I'm the students' union trans rep, so at least I can shout at them from a position of some legitimacy.

Hello! Questioning Transphobia is the awesome.

Painful, but I'm not surprised. I expect to keep hearing about trans people being asked to present their certificates when a) the certificates are confidential and b) your actual legal identification reflects the fact that you've done the paperwork and received the certificate in the first place.

Even so, I really wish the US had something like this.

And thank you! I try my best.

Can you not simply change your name by deed poll?

AFAIK educational institutions are legally obliged to accept that...
